Astrophotography

I don't believe anyone can look up at sky on a clear night and not wonder "What's going on up there?".

It's that question that led me to explore, and try to photograph, all that is "up there" . Thanks to the internet, the incredible advances in telescopes and cameras, and an understanding wife, I began the journey to try to figure it all out.

Along the way, I began taking pictures of some of the more interesting DSO's (Deep Sky Objects) that I could find.  While taking the pictures can be a long, complicated process, it was also a lot of fun and very rewarding.

I'm not sure if it was more interesting to take the images, or to research them before and after I took them.  Again, thanks to the internet, there is a tremendous wealth of information readily available.

All this led me back to re-learning some of what I had already studied in physics, chemistry, arithmetic, geometry, and general science.

It"s now clear to me that this is a lifelong journey.  There is always more to learn, more to discover, and more being discovered every day.

This website contains some of my favorite pictures (out of hundreds), and a brief description of each.

I hope you enjoy them.
